Fix no Internet after Adding PCIe Card or NVMe SSD

Last Mod.: 2024-06-05 | Created On: 2024-03-17

If your motherboard is garbage follow this guide.

I installed a new NVMe SSD on my nas, it changed my iface name and i didn’t have internet, so I had to change the interface name to the new one (ip addr) on /etc/network/interfaces

Ok so basically you just need to edit /etc/network/interfaces or something to your new interface like enp2s0 changed to enp3s0 so just use sed, vim or something to do this. Just change anything with enp2s0 (or whatever it was) to your new iface name.

1# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
2# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
 3
 4source /etc/network/interfaces.d/*
 5
 6# The loopback network interface
 7auto lo
 8iface lo inet loopback
 9
10# The primary network interface
11allow-hotplug enp3s0
12iface enp3s0 inet dhcp
13# This is an autoconfigured IPv6 interface
14iface enp3s0 inet6 auto

This happened on my linux server nas thing because I installed a new NVMe SSD on it, so it’s PCIe and it changes the name or something which is fucking retarded, apparently, from a more autistic friend, this has happened because my motherboard’s firmware is garbage. I am pretty sure this would have never happened if I had used something like NetworkManager but again this is a Linux server not a desktop or laptop.
